Gary Hull aka Gary2 Tribute
1946 - 2008
[ Pictured is Gary in his friends basement doing what he loved best, next to fishing ! ]
In collaboration with some of Gary's close friends who supplied me with this great picture, I am proud to dedicate this page in Gary's memory and unequaled skills as an innovator and builder of hand carved Striped bass lures. Gary Hull aka Gary 2 , was one of the main inspirations behind my hand-carved plug building today. Acknowledged by his peers as the "King" of hand carving, ' the man' , Gary inspired many builders. Sadly he passed away recently due to cancer. He will be missed by many for a long time to come. His legacy will live on as one of the greatest plug builders ever. His designs and innovative skills are unmatched. A great loss to us all.
RIP Gary Hull aka Gary2
some samples of Gary 2 lures :
Woodo's , Gary used the plastic Cotton Cordell 'Big-O' as a the model for his much saught after wooden version that took 5 days for each individual lure to be assembled. Gary would test swim and tune each one himself. He once mentioned that while testing a Wood-O in the Shark river an Osprey dived on it....!

Tigers
Gary used the plastic bagleys 'Top-Gun' as the model for his most popular lure he called the 'Tiger', named after a family friends small boy called " Tiger " ....made from russian wood and sealed by epoxy, gary created a bulletproof lure that proved to be a great fish catcher. gary tuned these to swim in a shallow 3-4 ft action, great around rocks.
